Georigia GMIS Fall 2025 Conference Booklet (pdf) (4MB)
I am excited to share with you information about the upcoming Georgia GMIS Spring Conference to be held in Columbus, Georgia from May 4 – 8, 2025.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Hitting Curveballs: Adapting to IT Challenges”. How do you handle a shift from the norm in your organization? Change is constant but sometimes sudden, and it forces you to pivot to a different idea or way of thinking. How do you handle the emergence of everything AI? How do you hit the curveball and adapt to all the challenges with IT?
So, we decided to throw some curveballs of our own. First, we are having Geek Trak teach on GIS for the first time. The topic is Advancing Local Government GIS: Practical Solutions, Emerging Technologies, and Strategic Insights and will be taught by Chris Rice and Chandler White. The course will focus on the latest technology including using AI with GIS.
Next for Cert Trak we will be giving a certificate for passing a test on Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC 900T00) which also includes the exam voucher. This course is only three days so you will not need to be there Sunday, and the Board has decided to cover the extra cost for this certification. Monday and Tuesday will be instruction, and Wednesday will be the exam on your own within the required proctored setting.
The leadership class on Monday will focus on Public Sector Ethics so be ready for some lively discussions.
Lastly, we changed the format of the Awards ceremony so we will have a reception and Awards on Tuesday evening, a little earlier than usual, and then dinner on your own. Wednesday evening, we will be going to a baseball game featuring the Columbus Clingstones (Braves AA team) in their newly renovated stadium.
So please mark your calendar for these important dates and plan to attend the conference. Not only will it equip you with knowledge, valuable insights and expertise, but it will also allow you to build lasting connections with fellow IT professionals from various local and state government agencies across Georgia.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to Georgia GMIS. Together, we can make the “Georgia GMIS Spring Conference 2025” a resounding success and contribute to the advancement of IT management in local and state government agencies in Georgia.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Columbus!
Warm regards,
Jamie Pownall
President, Georgia GMIS
